Aboriginal Project Support Officer

This position is open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Your role

This role supports important projects that aim to reduce reoffending among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You will help with research, analysis, reporting, and day-to-day project tasks to make sure projects run smoothly and achieve their goals.

What you'll do

As part of the Aboriginal Strategy and Policy Unit, your responsibilities are (but not limited to):

  • Supporting projects by helping to track progress, timelines and outcomes
  • Keeping records and project documents up to date
  • Carrying out research and provide information to guide decisions
  • Working with the team to deliver project plans and achieve results
  • Sharing updates with stakeholders about progress and challenges
  • Providing administrative support, including organising meetings and preparing papers.

What we're looking for

  • Provide project and operational support, including monitoring and reporting on project plans, milestones and deliverables, to ensure time, cost and quality indicators are in line with approved project plans

  • Ensure that all work is delivered in a culturally safe and inclusive environment. Utilising cultural knowledge and understanding of cultural protocols when engaging with project teams, stakeholders, clients and communities.

  • Update and collate documentation and records regarding relevant issues, policies and practices to ensure the delivery of projects complies with agreed project management methodology

  • Undertake basic research and analysis in assigned project areas and contribute to the preparation of project briefs to support informed decision making and planning

  • Assist the project team to complete tasks and implement project plans to ensure agreed outcomes are achieved

As an Identified role, this position is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons, Australia's First Nations people.

  • identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
  • is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
