About Play AI
Play AI is a leading education provider specializing in youth Artificial Intelligence and Robotics programs. As the Australian Organizing Committee of the ENJOY AI Global Youth Robotics Competition, we host and support large-scale international events, empowering students to develop coding skills, systems thinking, and creativity through hands-on learning. Our mission is simple: to equip young people with real competitiveness in the AI era.
Position: RoboCup Robotics Competition Mentor / Teacher
Location: Play AI Melbourne Campus
Employment Type: Part-time / Project-based
Pay Range: $25–40 AUD per hour (depending on experience and skills)
Responsibilities
- Independently coach student teams (2–5 members) to prepare for RoboCup Junior competitions (Rescue Line, Soccer, OnStage, etc.);
- Deliver regular training sessions on robot design, sensor integration, and programming;
- Train students in competition algorithms such as line-following, obstacle avoidance, and PID control;
- Lead teams through regional, state, and national RoboCup Junior events, including preparation and on-site mentoring;
- Manage event registrations, mentor declarations, and related documentation.
Requirements
- Proven experience in robotics education, programming instruction, or competition mentoring is essential;
- Familiarity with RoboCup Junior or other robotics competitions (prior participation or award-winning experience highly desirable);
- Proficiency with robotics platforms (LEGO Spike Prime, EV3, VEX, Arduino, Enjoy AI, etc.);
- Strong knowledge of at least one programming language (Scratch, Python, C++ etc.);
- Ability to independently manage and deliver training and competition preparation; strong organizational and communication skills.
