**Reading Rock Stars** is one of Australia’s largest THRASS based tutoring services. We deliver unique learning programs for children aged 3-12 to improve their reading, writing and spelling skills.

Our staff are highly trained teachers providing one-on-one and small group sessions using explicit teaching strategies through a multi-sensory approach.

**Job description**

We are on the lookout for our next superstar to join us and inspire our students and their love of learning.

**Classes run in the evenings after school for 2-4 hours, and on Saturdays 8:30am-5pm during the school term.**

**Role description**

The Reading Rock Stars program is designed for Early Years to Primary and is taught explicitly to small groups and one-on-one, in 1-hour sessions. The course structure and schedule are provided to you and must be carried out as per the standards. The skills that are taught during the sessions are:

- Early Years (3 and 4 year old Kinder)_
- Phonics - Using the THRASS pedagogy
- Multi Sensory hands on activities and craft promoting fine motor development
- Movement and brain-break exercises
- Literacy and numeracy games
- Little Learners Love Literacy (Milo Monkey)
- Handwriting - Victorian Cursive and Standard Print
- Skills to blend and segment (Early reading and spelling skills)
- Primary Years (Prep to Year 6)_
- Reading and Comprehension
- Spelling, Vocabulary, Grammar - In line with the Victorian School Curriculum
- Phonics - Using the THRASS pedagogy
- Handwriting - Victorian Cursive and Standard Print
- Creative Writing - Narrative, Persuasive and Informative

You will be required to follow the teaching plan and evaluate student outcomes on a weekly basis. Materials and teaching tools are all provided to you so you can focus on teaching your classes effectively.

Your prior experience and input will be appreciated and greatly valued to improve the Reading Rock Stars program and student performance.

**Qualifications and Experience**
- Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education will be considered
- Current Masters of Teaching students are encouraged to apply
- University Graduates in related fields are encouraged to apply
- Prior experience in teaching is highly preferred
- We use Microsoft Teams to communicate internally and OneDrive to share files. We also use Word, OneNote and PowerPoint. Although some training can be provided, you must be proficient with these apps and their use in your daily tasks

**Responsibilities**
- Be able to commit to at least 5 - 10 hours per week, with the ability to scale up to more hours if required
- Must have good classroom management and able to teach a small group size of 3-7 children per session
- Ensure students have an individual learning program tailored to their needs
- Focus on closing gaps and ensuring each student achieves their weekly goals
- Passionate to work with early years (3 and 4 year old Kinder) and primary aged children of all abilities
- Be fun, energetic and engaging when teaching
- You must have excellent communication skills, be reliable, punctual and have excellent personal presentation
- Development of homework and providing end of term reports
- Maintain a child safe teaching environment
- Must have a long-term commitment to working with us
- Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents only

- A copy of your Working with Children Check
- Basic First Aid Certificate

Part-time hours: 5-10 per week

**Salary**: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
