We have an exciting opportunity to join our Sydney-based Tax team. We are seeking a Senior Tax Counsel on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract to cover a period of parental leave.

The Senior Tax Counsel is a valued member of the Payments, Procurement and Finance team who is responsible for providing expert strategic and technical Tax advice to our business units and corporate functions.

 Key responsibilities will include:

• Provide expert tax advice on Australian and international matters, including corporate structuring, capital management and tax treaties.
• Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and company documents to ensure tax compliance and risk management.
• Oversee group tax strategy, governance and transfer pricing frameworks, adapting them to legal and regulatory changes.
• Manage complex tax projects and transactions, advise on tax implications and deliver commercial solutions for business operations as directed by senior leadership.
• Oversee the Group's international tax compliance and reporting, managing filings, transfer pricing, preparation and review of tax returns, tax effect accounting, and collaborating with advisers across multiple jurisdictions.
• Drive continuous improvement in tax processes, ensuring timely and accurate tax postings, balances and controls during all reporting cycles, while supporting business units in managing tax risks.

What you will bring to the role:

• Degree(s) in accounting/commerce or law.
• Strong tax manager / counsel experience, at least 5 years of relevant experience in corporate international tax, preferably from a big 4 environment or in a similar in-house commercial tax role.
• Experience and knowledge in GST, FBT and other employment tax legislation as applicable to large corporate entities is desirable. 
• Technically proficient and up to date with taxation law developments.
• NSW solicitor holding a current Australian practising certificate is desirable.
• Chartered Accountant qualification is desirable (CPA, CA).
• Completing or completed the Masters of Tax or Graduate Diploma in Tax is desirable.
