Are you a skilled and creative Chef looking for an opportunity beyond the traditional restaurant environment? The Good Grocer, Myaree is seeking a passionate and experienced Chef to join our team, preparing high-quality meals and catering services for our valued customers.

About the Role:

As a Chef at The Good Grocer, you'll play a key role in delivering exceptional meals and culinary experiences. This is a catering-focused role, where your creativity, organisation, and leadership skills will ensure our kitchen runs smoothly and our customers receive meals of the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation and Service

  • Prepare and present a wide variety of meals according to customer demand, ensuring consistent quality and portion control.
  • Showcase culinary creativity in meal presentation, making food visually appealing.
  • Assist customers with meal choices, provide recommendations, and respond to special requests.

Kitchen Management and Leadership

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient workflow and timely service.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train junior kitchen staff, fostering professional growth and culinary skill development.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef and team to plan menus, manage food and labour costs, and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment in compliance with all food safety regulations.

Quality Control and Innovation

  • Monitor the quality of all dishes, ensuring high standards are maintained at all stages.
  • Maintain rigorous food safety practices including correct pricing, dating, and labelling of products.
  • Reduce wastage through strategic inventory control and creative menu planning.
  • Introduce new recipes and presentation techniques to continually enhance the culinary offerings.

Compliance and Safety

  • Adhere strictly to company policies, safety guidelines, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ensure proper use of kitchen equipment and maintain a high standard of hygiene throughout the kitchen.
  • Support team members during busy periods to achieve daily and weekly objectives.
