An opportunity now exists for a Business Development professional to join our Business Development team based in Sydney.

The Business Development Manager (BDM) for the Commercial Litigation and Class Actions practice groups works collaboratively with the Practice Group Leaders to drive growth initiatives across the practice groups and related clients.

Working with senior leaders and Partners, the BDM will be expected to influence the direction and focus of the Practice Groups and their pursuits, revenue initiatives and priority clients, identify and flexibly respond to changes in priorities and align support/resources to ensure effective execution of initiatives.

About the Practice Groups

Our Commercial Litigation practice advises and represents national and multinational clients in large scale commercial litigations and highly complex sensitive disputes, across a broad spectrum of industry sectors, including technology, infrastructure energy and resources and financial services.

Our Class Actions practice represents major companies and governments in their most significant class actions, often with global implications, particularly in technology, products, cyber security, ESG, financial services, employment, and professional services.

Key responsibilities

This role contributes to growing the firm's market share and profile, client retention and development by:

  • Creating strong relationships with PGLs and partners to execute and influence internal teams to action

  • Identifying and prioritising opportunities at a practice, client and market level and working with the PGLs to develop and implement pursuit strategies and profiling initiatives

'joining the dots' within and across the practices, clients and firm to ensure that the firm is best positioned to pursue clients and opportunities in a collaborative fashion

  • Coaching and preparing partners to pursue key opportunities, pitches and beauty parades, including clear articulation of the value proposition

  • Managing strategic bids and tenders, ensuring strong pre-positioning disciplines

  • Working with a Key Client and agreed practice group client teams to identify and pursue growth opportunities

  • Bringing insight on clients to partners on revenue generation and relationship development

  • Sharing market, sector/industry, client and firm intelligence and insight, including that gained through client listening

  • Championing and demonstrating key behaviours of collaboration and proactivity in a best practice environment.
