The Royal Hospital for Women has been one of Australia's foremost specialist hospitals for women and babies since its early beginnings as New South Wales first 'lying-in' hospital for women in 1820. As a principal teaching hospital of the University of NSW in the fields of obstetrics, gynaecology, gynaecology oncology and neonatology the Royal has a history of innovation in women's health care services, teaching and research.
The main areas of specialisation include breast care, gynaecology, gynaecological oncology, maternity, maternal-fetal medicine, menopause, newborn intensive care and reproductive medicine.

Each year the Hospital delivers up to 3,000 babies; cares for more than 600 premature babies; performs more than 3000 surgical procedures and has over 2000 visits through our Early Pregnancy Assessment Service (EPAS).


The main objective of the Provisional Fellow role is to deliver exemplary care to patients with gynecological cancer within a multifaceted clinical setting. This position is designed to foster advanced professional growth and expertise, guiding the Provisional Fellow towards achieving the FRANZCOG credential if not already obtained as well as achieving certification in gynaecological oncology.

Provisional Fellows will acquire the necessary skills to assess, diagnose, treat, and oversee the care of patients with complex benign gynecological conditions or malignancies of the female reproductive system. Throughout their tenure, they will benefit from supervision by experienced senior medical professionals. This position is FOR accredited trainees in the CGO program.

  1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
  2. Must be an accredited trainee in Certification for Gynaecological Oncology (CGO).
  3. Proven ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership to ensure patient care is effectively managed.
  4. Proven time management and strong problem-solving abilities.
  5. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with proficient computer skills.
  6. Demonstrated dedication to quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management.
  7. Active engagement in continuing professional development and a commitment to contribute to medical research.
  8. Prior experience in teaching medical students and junior doctors, and a willingness to continue doing so.
