Docklands, Victoria, Australia Decmil Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

This Project-based role is initially located on the Ison Road Extension Project in Werribee. It will ensure project compliance with health and safety requirements and provide guidance and support to workers in implementing Project Health & Safety Management Plan/s, business management system and client requirements.

The candidate must be able to work on any metropolitan construction site locations around Melbourne on a Monday to Friday roster, and ideally have:

  • Certificate IV Work Health and Safety (Mandatory) / Diploma Work Health and Safety (Desirable)
  • 3+ years' experience, preferably with previous H&S experience in the construction and/or civil engineering industry
  • Experience conducting and interpreting audits and reviews
  • Experience in analysing, and reporting on complex project performance, compliance and/or non-conformance
  • Working knowledge of state legislative requirements and all Australian Standards relating to relevant scope of works
  • Working knowledge of safety legislation, statutes, and ability to interpret any applicable laws or legislation relevant to construction projects
  • Proven facilitating and presentation skills, e.g., focus groups and workshops
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and manage time and workload
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Effective interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated high-level decision-making, negotiation and influencing skills
    Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve conflict in a high-stress environment

Responsibilities Include

Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate the Health and Safety risk management process for the Project referencing statutory requirements, business requirements, current industry best practice, and lessons learnt
  • Assist with the identification and assessment of potential health hazards and any required worker health surveillance/monitoring
  • Administer fitness for work testing in accordance with Health & Safety Management Plan
  • Maintain the Project Health and Safety Management Plan
  • Engage and manage Project subcontractors to ensure understanding and compliance with Project and business requirements
  • Facilitate and participate in the Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) consultation, cooperation, and coordination arrangements on the Project, including Pre-Start, Toolbox, WHS Committee, etc.
  • Facilitate the development and delivery of Project inductions
    Identify minimum Health & Safety training, competency, qualification, and licensing requirements for workers on the Project and ensure requirements are met and recorded before work.
