The Role
As a 3rd level Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be the go-to expert for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, high-performing, and resilient infrastructure solutions for clients across Sydney metro areas. You'll work across a variety of industries, tackling interesting and diverse challenges that blend traditional on-prem environments with hybrid cloud solutions. Every day will bring new opportunities to innovate, collaborate, and deliver technology that drives business transformation.

Your Day-to-day May Include

  • Designing, installing, and configuring Microsoft Windows Server environments with a focus on performance, security, and scalability.
  • Managing Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and domain services.
  • Supporting hybrid deployments through Microsoft Entra Connect and Microsoft Entra Cloud Sync for M365/Azure.
  • Administering and optimising SQL Server databases, including performance tuning, data integrity, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Overseeing VMware vSphere environments and implementing VDI solutions such as VMware Horizon or Citrix.
  • Configuring and maintaining Load Balancers (F5, Kemp) to ensure reliability and application performance.
  • Managing and maintaining network infrastructure, including Cisco and Aruba wireless, switching, and routing solutions.
  • Configuring and managing firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet) to secure networks, implement VPNs, and prevent threats.
  • Collaborating with technical and project teams to troubleshoot complex issues and deliver infrastructure projects.
  • Maintaining clear documentation for infrastructure configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures.

Required Skills And Experience

  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and maintaining on-premises infrastructure solutions.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Microsoft Windows Server (installation, configuration, management)
  • Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
  • Microsoft Entra Connect / Cloud Sync for hybrid cloud integrations
  • SQL Server (maintenance, performance tuning, backups, and DR)
  • VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, or Citrix VDI environments
  • Load Balancers (F5, Kemp)
  • Network infrastructure (Cisco/Aruba switching, routing, wireless)
  • Firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet) and VPN configuration
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure security best practices and compliance standards.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across complex environments.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Highly Regarded Certifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent
  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA)
