The Department of Education International (DEi) sits within the Students with Disability Resourcing Review and International branch of the Department of Education. DEi contributes to the social and economic prosperity of Queensland. It delivers internationally-recognised products and services, working with key partners and community to support global learning and engagement in our schools.
Your Role:
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Global Engagement team (GE) within DEi as a Project Officer for a fixed term temporary role (12 months).
The Global Engagement team within DEi offers a range of immersive, fully-funded global prizes and programs for students, teachers, education leaders and Queensland schools each year, delivered online, domestically or via outbound and inbound immersion.
Reporting to the Principal Project Officer, Global Engagement unit, the role of the Project Officer is to contribute to the implementation of key projects and activities. The role involves providing strategic support and thinking; researching and analysing issues; synthesising information and communicating effectively; managing and influencing others; being flexible and collaborative; and having personal drive.
Responsibilities include:
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Ensuring the efficient delivery of Global Engagement's programs, including contributing to the development and maintenance of project plans, communication and marketing plans, budgets and reports for allocated projects to ensure they are delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key clients, both internal and external to the department, including government officials, overseas institution staff, representatives, teachers and students.
- Bringing an innovative lens to the marketing of programs to extend reach across Queensland.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, processes and systems to improve departmental administration.
- Contributing to the preparation of high-level communications, such as briefings, correspondence and reports for senior management and key stakeholders.
- Assisting with delegation visits from international stakeholders.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant Commonwealth and State Acts regarding international student entry and program completion, as well as department-specific policies and guidelines.

- Contributes to the effective delivery of programs, events and initiatives that align with organisational priorities.
- Demonstrates awareness of government and departmental policies, ensuring compliance in all activities.

- Manages competing priorities effectively to meet deadlines and support seamless program and event delivery.
- Proactively identifies and addresses operational needs to ensure the success of projects and initiatives.
