Disability Support Worker (Mental Health Focus) – Female Applicants Only

Sunhubs Care Services is growing, and we're looking for experienced female Disability Support Workers with a strong mental health background to support a female participant in her home and in the community around Penrith NSW.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with one client, build genuine therapeutic rapport, and apply Positive Behaviour Support and de-escalation strategies in a meaningful, person-centred way.

About the Role

You will provide high-quality, recovery-oriented support aligned with the participant's Behaviour Support Plan and individual goals. Shifts are available across various times, offering flexibility and consistency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting emotional regulation and implementing de-escalation strategies
  • Using excellent communication skills, adapting to the participant's preferred communication style
  • Actively involving the participant in decision-making about their supports
  • Implementing and reviewing Individual Program Plans
  • Providing community access and transport support
  • Assisting with daily living tasks, including:
  • Personal care (when required)
  • Meal preparation and assistance
  • Domestic tasks
  • Participation in activities and appointments
  • Medication support and medical/special procedures (where trained and required)
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation, including:
  • Progress notes and shift reports
  • Behaviour support and risk management records
  • Medication and incident forms
  • Contributing to service planning, reviews, and team collaboration
  • Maintaining a professional standard in line with Sunhubs' Code of Conduct and Ethics

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting people with mental health needs
  • Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and de-escalation techniques
  • Strong understanding of Duty of Care, WHS, and trauma-informed practice
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team
  • Willingness to complete required documentation accurately
  • Current driver's licence and ability to provide transport
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Certificate III or IV in Disability, Mental Health, Individual Support, or equivalent experience)
