The Role
The Defence Business Integration Program (DBIP) are seeking enthusiastic and experienced staff with project management and contract management skills to join the Capability Design team as our Project Manager. The EL 1 Project Manager will ensure timely and effective project delivery on key DBIP initiatives, including, but not limited to, current projects focused on travel simplification and Defence learning environment.

The Project Manager will lead the work of a team and provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members. As the Project Manager, you will be required to communicate with, respond and provide advice to a range of stakeholders on complex business issues. You will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.

This includes designing and driving the implementation of the Defence Business Integration Program. Among other responsibilities, you will engage with stakeholders who provide and/or consume data and digital services to understand their viewpoints and needs and redesign service offerings and processes to maximise customer value and efficient service delivery.

About our Team
The Defence Business Integration Program (DBIP) was created to ensure the cumulative impacts of programs and projects deliver long-term, enterprise-wide transformation.

The Program supports the Associate Secretary in his role as Capability Manager to deliver critical business objectives, including improving the consistency, efficiency and compliance of core enabling business functions and processes across the enterprise; and, reducing the total cost of ownership of technical platforms supporting Defence's enabling business capabilities through consolidation and standardisation.

The Capability Design team designs future target states for business capabilities to address gaps, opportunities and define the steps required to achieve it. We identify integration, reuse opportunities, and provide advice that supports achievement of strategies. In order to deliver these objectives, the team
requires project managers who can ensure efficient and effective delivery of our projects.

Our Ideal Candidate
As part of this role, you will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Leading and managing fast moving project initiatives, ensuring delivery on time and within budget, with excellent governance and reporting to key stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define project scopes, goals, and deliverables.
  • Producing and maintaining project management documentation to plan, track progress, and proactively identify and mitigate risks as well as stakeholder, executive and ministerial presentations and briefs.
  • Leading and being directly involved in delivery of all aspects of project activities including finance, procurement and contracts, risk, schedule, quality, workforce and industry relationships.
  • Applying agile and innovative operational, professional and administrative activities, procedures, practices and project management methodologies.
  • Connecting with, mentoring and guiding project subject matter experts, fostering a collaborative and results driven environment to ensure successful delivery of project, system or platform outputs.
  • Being accountable for managing and coordinating inputs from diverse team members, including providing clear and consistent communication, establishing clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people.

Security Clearance:
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at "Negative Vetting Level 1".
