City of Newcastle (CN) has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and proactive individual who is interested in completing a two-year traineeship in Human Resources.
As our Workforce Development Trainee, gain hands-on experience in two dynamic areas of HR. This is a unique opportunity to learn the ropes of talent acquisition and employee development while contributing to meaningful work that supports our people and culture.
As a trainee, you'll assist with key administrative tasks across recruitment and training coordination—from posting job ads and scheduling interviews to supporting onboarding and learning programs. You'll be guided by experienced professionals and develop practical skills in candidate sourcing, ATS management, LMS tracking, and more.
This is a 2-year fixed-term contract based within our Workforce Development team where you will gain exposure to all elements of the Workforce Development function of Human Resources through on the job and formal training.

35-hour working week with flexible/hybrid work arrangements/model as well as an optional 9-day fortnight

If you are successful in progressing to the next stage of our recruitment process:
You will be required to attend 1 x group assessment centre for a 3-hour period between Tuesday 30th September - Thursday 2nd October 2025.
If you are successful in progressing to the next stage of the recruitment process after the assessment centre:
You will be required to complete a Pre-employment medical scheduled to take place on Tuesday 7th - Tuesday, 14th October 2025.

Remuneration: $37, % annual leave loading, yearly payment + 12% Superannuation per annum for a 35-hour week
