Arup is seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Manager to lead projects and project teams on complex road infrastructure projects within our Transport Portfolio. This role will focus on driving the technical delivery of multidisciplinary projects, mentoring staff, and ensuring the successful execution of major transport infrastructure projects. You will be an integral part of the project leadership team, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest technical quality.

The Opportunity

  • Lead and manage the design of complex transport infrastructure projects, particularly major road projects.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of long-term plans aligned with Arup's business strategy.
  • Procure work, negotiate contracts, and ensure positive financial and technical outcomes for projects.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, government agencies, contractors, and subconsultants.
  • Oversee and coordinate design teams across multiple disciplines and offices to ensure the successful delivery of design packages.

Is this role right for you?

  • Recognized tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in the design management of major transport infrastructure projects.
  • Chartered membership of Engineers Australia (or equivalent) or significant progress toward membership.
  • Expertise in relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice, including OH&S.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
