About the role

Join Robinvale District Health Services' as an Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer in Robinvale, VIC. This full-time role is crucial in supporting the wellbeing and positive health outcomes of the local Indigenous community. As the Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer, you will be the vital connection between the health service and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, ensuring culturally appropriate and accessible care.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide a culturally safe and responsive point of contact for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and their families
  • Facilitate access to health services and programs, advocating for client needs and coordinating referrals as required
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, health providers and other key stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to improve the cultural competency of the health service
  • Support the delivery of health promotion activities and community outreach initiatives
  • Assist with data collection and reporting to inform continuous improvement of service delivery

What we're looking for

  • Identification as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in health, community services or a related field
  • Demonstrated understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with diverse clients
  • Strong networking and collaboration skills to build effective partnerships
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in health promotion, community development or a similar role
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and professional groups
