We are looking for an enthusiastic paediatric cardiac sonographer to join our busy and organized private cardiology practice on a casual or part-time basis with a view to full time work.

The Canberra Heart Clinic was established in 2010 and provides privatized outpatient cardiology services to Canberra and the surrounding regions in a modern yet caring environment. Canberra Heart Clinic offers excellent staff facilities which are not matched by any other specialist medical center in the region. It has 2 e95 echo machines with 4D capability, an e90 echo machine and a Vivid iq portable echo machine. All our cardiac ultrasound machines are capable of strain analysis. The Canberra Heart Clinic provides a full Holter monitor service with 20 Holter monitors that can record up to 7 days and also provides ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. In addition to full consultative services including cardiac device checks it provides a full echo service including exercise stress echocardiography. The Canberra Heart Clinic utilizes highly advanced technological equipment and this assists in the efficient running of this health service. The staff are friendly and support each other in this busy yet stimulating workplace environment.

The Canberra Heart Clinic currently has an interventional cardiologist, imaging cardiologist, paediatric cardiologist, general cardiologist and a general physician.

We have 2 specialist cardiology practices in the north and south of Canberra. Our Deakin practice is located in the southern part of Canberra and our newly established Gungahlin practice is situated in the northern part of Canberra. Our paediatric cardiologist mainly works at Deakin however you may need to perform studies at either site or selected regional areas. Canberra with its drainage areas serves a population of close to 850,000.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Paediatric Cardiac Sonographer to join our team on a part-time or casual basis with a view to full time work.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform and interpret high-quality paediatric echocardiography
  • Collaborate with paediatric cardiologists and support staff for accurate and timely diagnosis
  • Ensure exceptional patient care and comfort, especially for infants and children
  • Maintain compliance with all clinical protocols and safety procedures

Skills and experience

We are looking for highly motivated paediatric sonographer who is able to work in a challenging fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and task prioritisation is therefore essential. Having high initiative, being hardworking and having excellent computing skills is important. Knowledge of practice management system Genie is preferable but not mandatory. Excellent interpersonal skills, both with patients and other staff members is however essential. Ability to work independently and as part of a team is a must. Eager to learn, self-motivation, attention to detail and a great team player are highly desirable. Candidate should possess the ability to liaise with patients, families, carers and other health professionals in a compassionate manner.

We currently have one position available for an immediate start. The role is part-time (2 days a week) Mondays and Wednesdays with availability to work Tuesdays and Thursdays when needed. Remuneration will align with experience and training needs.
