Overview:

The Principal Lead Engagement and Community Communications is responsible for leading effective, strategic, culturally safe and responsive engagements with Aboriginal communities and facilitate knowledge translation with the health system to improve health care experiences and health outcomes to deliver on Closing the Gap Priority Reform Three.

Key relationships include: Local Health Networks (LHNs); Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations (ACCOs); Aboriginal communities and networks, councils, community leaders and consumers; governments and external agencies to strengthen relationships, share information and improve engagement outcome to make sure that policy and strategic priorities are culturally safe and responsive to the needs of Aboriginal peoples ultimately attribute to better health outcomes for Aboriginal South Australians.

The role support place-based partnership participation by collaborating with service providers across the system in determining priorities, service capacity, capability, solving problems, sharing information and shared decision-making initiatives to improve Aboriginal health outcomes, and supports system leadership and advice on approaches to engaging and communicating with Aboriginal communities and health stakeholders and the commissioning of services and approaches to strengthen Aboriginal health outcomes and achieve state and national commitments to improve Aboriginal health.

The role works with stakeholders to build and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships and provides support where necessary to build their capacity to help achieve state and national commitments to improve Aboriginal health.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

  • A 'National Police Certificate' NPC (also known as a 'Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check' NCCHC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact)

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
