About the role

German Butchery Retail is seeking a friendly and customer-focused Deli Assistant to join our team in Bexley North, NSW. This is a casual position with the opportunity to progress to part time or full time roles. As a Deli Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service and supporting the efficient operation of our busy deli & cafe.

What you'll be doing

  • Greeting and assisting customers with their deli selections
  • Slicing and preparing a variety of cold meats, cheeses and other deli items to customer specifications
  • selling bread, sweets & brezel
  • Stocking and maintaining the deli counter and associated equipment
  • Ensuring excellent food safety and hygiene practices are followed at all times
  • Providing exceptional customer service and product knowledge to enhance the shopping experience
  • Assisting with inventory management and other deli duties as required

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing cafe or deli role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and helpful attitude
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow food safety and hygiene procedures
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including Saturdays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 15kg regularly
  • Confident with coffee making (1+ year experience a must)
  • Bonus points if you have German heritage or speak a 2nd language
  • Full working rights in Australia (no working holiday visas)
  • Fluent in English
