About Us

Wujal Wujal is an Aboriginal community in Far North Queensland's Cape York Peninsula, named for the "many falls" in its World Heritage-listed environment rich with rainforests, rivers, and sacred waterfalls.

Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Council is responsible for ensuring that our community of around 400 residents and those from more remote surrounding areas have access to essential services.

About the Position

Council is currently seeking an Aged Care Cook to join our team. Responsibilities and duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning, preparing and cooking all meals for Aged Care clients within the guidelines of the Food Safety Program.
  • Order food supplies to allow for the preparation of meals on the approved menu.
  • Monitor and maintain hygiene and cleanliness of food storage, preparation and service areas.
  • Maintaining records of service delivery and food safety documentation to a high standard.

This is a part-time position, working 22.8 hours, 3 days per week. The position is based in Wujal Wujal.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar position
  • Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and a positive attitude to work with and deliver quality services for Aged Care Clients.
  • Supervisors Food Handling Certificate, or willingness to obtain upon commencement
  • QLD C Class Drivers Licence
  • National Police History clearance check (ongoing)
