The Coordinator of Faith, Justice, and Social Action (K–12) plays a vital leadership role in fostering a whole-school commitment to faith, service, and justice, grounded in our Catholic faith, Gospel values, and the Mary Ward tradition. This position inspires and empowers students, staff, and the wider school community to live out the Gospel through meaningful service learning, social action, and care for creation.

Reporting to the Principal via the Director of Mission, the Coordinator of Faith, Justice, and Social Action leads initiatives that integrate faith with practice, cultivate a culture of inclusivity and respect, and build strong partnerships with local and global organisations. Through vision, collaboration, and example, the role nurtures students to become compassionate leaders and advocates for justice in the world.

Cultural and Religious Leadership

Assists in the continuing development of a culture that is in harmony with Catholic tradition, the charism of Mary Ward and the heritage of Loreto.

1.1.   Promote a school culture aligned with Catholic values and the Loreto mission.

1.2.  Give personal witness to the beliefs and values of the Catholic Church through daily practice and professional conduct.

1.3.  Support prayer, liturgical life, and spiritual formation within the school community.

1.4.  Encourage inclusivity, dignity, and mutual respect among all members of the school.

1.5.  Affirm and uphold the pastoral care policy, ensuring a holistic approach to student development.

Community Building

Supports the Principal in fostering a cohesive school community.

2.1.   Provide loyalty and support to the Principal.

2.2.  Promote harmonious and cooperative relationships between staff members and students.

2.3.  Ensure policies and practices promote a positive climate within the School.

2.4.  Communicate effectively with students, parents and staff both verbally, and in written form.

2.5.  Give practical support to the Executive and Management Teams of the school.

2.6.  Actively participate in the life of the school and contribute to building a positive, connected school community.

2.7.  Maintain membership in professional associations and attend relevant forums or network events.

2.8.  Collaborate with other leaders on initiatives such as Wellbeing Week, parent education sessions, and student-led campaigns.

2.9.   Attend key staff and committee meetings, contributing a psychological and pastoral perspective to inform decision-making.

2.10. Undertake other such tasks and responsibilities as may be requested by the Principal from time to time.

Faith Integration

Ensures Catholic Social Teaching, Gospel values, and the Loreto charism guide all justice, service, and social action initiatives.

3.1.   Embed Catholic Social Teaching, Gospel values, and the Loreto charism into all justice, service, and social action initiatives.

3.2.  Collaborate with the Director of Mission to ensure all service learning and social justice programs are underpinned by Scripture, the life of Mary Ward, and Church teaching.

3.3.  Model faith-based leadership through active participation in liturgies, prayer, and spiritual formation activities.

3.4.  Facilitate opportunities for prayer, reflection, and discernment that connect faith to action. Support staff and students in using models for justice-focused decision-making.

3.5.  Represent the school at community forums, conferences, and inter-school networks related to social justice and service learning.

Service Learning

Embeds meaningful service-learning experiences that connect curriculum with Catholic values and community engagement.

4.1.   In consultation with the Religious Education Coordinator (Junior School and Senior School), design and coordinate curriculum-integrated service-learning projects across all year levels, ensuring clear links to learning outcomes and Catholic values.

4.2.  Partner with teachers to embed reflection, critical thinking, and ethical decision-making into service experiences.

4.3.  Evaluate service-learning programs annually, gathering student feedback to strengthen impact.

4.4.  Build and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships with local and global organisations, charities, and Church agencies.

4.5.  Provide resources and guidance for incorporating reflective practices into service and social action projects.

Social Action

Leads faith-driven social action that empowers students to respond to local and global issues with justice, compassion, and courage.

5.1.   Initiate and lead whole-school campaigns responding to urgent local, national, and global issues.

5.2.  Provide opportunities for students to engage in hands-on activities such as fundraising, awareness days, and volunteering.

5.3. Ensure all social action projects are aligned with Catholic principles of human dignity, solidarity, and the common good.

5.4. Engage with Loreto organisations such as Mary Ward International Australia (MWIA) and LoretoUN to enable pathways for student advocacy and social action.

5.5. Mentor students to become leaders of positive change through advocacy campaigns, immersion experiences, and community partnerships.

5.6. Support student-led initiatives on issues such as human rights, poverty alleviation, human trafficking, First Nations advocacy, and climate action.

5.7.  Lead projects promoting care for creation in alignment with Laudato Si' and Laudato Deum, including sustainability education, actions, and partnerships.

5.8. Develop strategies for environmental responsibility through programs, initiatives, and community engagement where appropriate.

5.9.  Coordinate guest speakers, workshops, and events to deepen students' understanding of social justice issues.
