About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced
Policy Advisor
to join our clients high-performing team, working at the intersection of public policy, and grants program design.
This role contributes to the design, development and implementation of funding programs and policy initiatives that support Queenslanders. You will apply your policy acumen, stakeholder engagement skills and program insight to shape initiatives aligned with government priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, analyse and implement policy and program frameworks aligned with departmental and whole-of-government objectives.
- Support the design, governance and evaluation of grants and funding programs, ensuring compliance with the Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles and state financial management frameworks.
- Conduct research and provide high-quality briefings, discussion papers, and advice to senior executives and Ministers.
- Engage with stakeholders across government, industry, and community to inform evidence-based policy development.
- Monitor policy effectiveness and recommend improvements based on program outcomes, economic trends and stakeholder feedback.
- Contribute to interdepartmental working groups, policy reviews, and strategic planning initiatives.
What We're Looking For
- Strong knowledge of public policy development, program design and grants administration in a government setting.
- Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise and persuasive advice, reports and ministerial correspondence.
- Proven experience building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and policy integrity.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in public policy, economics, public administration, or a related field.
- Experience in a Queensland or Australian Government agency, ideally in policy, grants, or economic development.
- Familiarity with SmartyGrants or other grants management systems (preferred but not essential).
