Group Financial Risk (GFR) is a broad team that deploys the Group's credit frameworks, actively manages and monitors the Group's credit risk exposures and supports non-retail customers via the Group Credit Structuring Unit. The Group Financial Risk – Portfolio, Policy and Provisioning (PPP) team works closely with Line 1 and Line 2 teams across all Business Units and Subsidiaries, domestically and offshore, to implement best practice credit risk policies and strategies. The Credit Governance team sits within PPP and is responsible for managing and overseeing Group level Financial Risk Committees, contributing to senior management and Board reporting on financial risk matters and insights at a Group portfolio level and supporting GFR and the PPP team on a number of other financial risk related activities.

Reporting to the Head of Group Credit Governance, your primary responsibilities as Manager Credit Risk Governance are to manage the governance and secretariat functions for the Executive Leadership Team Financial Risk Committee (ELT FRC), Group Loan Loss Provisioning Committee (Group LLPC), and the Credit Risk Capital Working Group which supports review of matters impacting the Group's regulatory credit risk capital, working with the Group Credit Policy team. The Manger Credit Risk Governance role contributes in ensuring the Group achieve its goals, complies with regulatory requirements and holds itself to high standards in risk governance.

You will be enabling senior management of the Group to make decisions through governance activities for credit risk, driving and delivering risk reporting and engaging in governance improvement initiatives. This role provides great exposure to senior leaders across the organisation, an opportunity to build a broad and deep network across peers and an opportunity to be involved in project work to problem solve for key priorities that affect the strategic direction of the Group.

Your responsibilities would include:

  • Managing the ELT Financial Risk Committee and sub-committee secretariat functions for Senior Leaders responsible for arranging meetings, collating and reviewing papers for quality control and alignment with meeting agenda, distributing pre-reading materials and taking meeting minutes.

  • Supporting the Group Credit Governance team with coordinating stakeholder inputs into risk reports that go to Senior Management and the Board with a focus on credit risk.

  • Identifying, driving and delivering credit risk governance and reporting improvement initiatives and providing sharing feedback and coaching to paper authors.

  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders across the Group who provide information to the Committees and/or credit risk reports including co-ordination of forward committee planners between sub-committees and Group.

  • Working productively as part of a team or independently to meet deadlines.

  • Acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and GFR on governance matters.

  • Supporting the GFR team in significant risk management projects and initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience in governance, regulatory or credit risk management roles within banking/financial services.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as report writing is a key requirement of the role.

  • The ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders and nurture strong and effective cross-functional relationships.

  • Deep attention to detail to ensure the delivery of accurate, timely and high-quality work.

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to challenge conventional thinking and practice.

  • A curious and humble mindset with an interest in continuous learning to build risk management best practice and adapt to new ways of working with AI tools.

  • A highly organised person with an ability to communicate with clarity and execute with efficiency.
