The Purple House Occupational Therapist works within the multidisciplinary Primary Healthcare team, providing services to clients to promote function, independence, and quality of life.

What's the role?
- Provide culturally appropriate client-centred care
- Conduct functional assessments and provide recommendations for level of support required and equipment needs; this includes home assessments
- Develop and deliver education to clients and employees based on evidence-based practice
- Collaborative approach to care with Primary Health Care, Aged Care, Social Support and NDIS teams.
- Provide support for Purple House remote aged care centres.
- Facilitate transition from hospital inpatient, including liaising with inpatient allied health
- Liaise and refer to internal and external service providers
- Self-reflexive practice via regular peer/supervisor sessions
- Ongoing professional development, research and involvement in quality improvement projects
- Promote a safe work environment in accordance with legislative requirements, adheres to Work Health Safety guidelines, and reports all incidents and near misses.
- Understanding and experience working within the primary healthcare system and working within multidisciplinary team.
- Effective communication and cross-culturally and professionally, including and well developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with people with end-stage renal failure and a range of complex co-morbidities; including working areas of aged care, chronic disease, musculoskeletal issues and disability.
- Demonstrate a courteous and respectful manner and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate cultural awareness and knowledge of cultural safety and Indigenous Community control.
- Maintain confidentiality of information about clients, other staff members or community members.
- Work to achieve standards of best practice and promote continuous quality of improvement.
- Demonstrate safe work practices and promote a safe work environment.
Is this the right role for you?
- Bachelor's or Masters of Occupational Therapy.
- Current unrestricted AHPRA registration.
- Territory Equipment Program registration or ability to obtain.
- Recent (less than 6 months old) National Criminal History Check.
- Covid Vaccination (2 jabs + 1 booster)
- Unrestricted driver license to be able to drive in the Northern Territory.
