Mount Magnet District High School (DHS) is in the Midwest Education District and is situated 569 km northeast of Perth and 340 km east of Geraldton. The school is a multicultural environment with a diverse range of students from Mount Magnet and the surrounding Midwest District. The school caters for around 88 students from Kindergarten to Year 12 and is guided by the expectations: We are Respectful, We are Responsible, We are Achievers.

The Role
The Deputy Principal will ideally provide leadership in the school and the community by helping develop and promote the school values, ethos and priorities, and encouraging school staff, volunteers from the community and others to share ownership of the school's vision and goals.

Our ideal applicant would have:

  • Exceptional Communication Skills – Ideally able to engage effectively with staff, students, families, and the wider community.
  • Strong Personal Acumen – Should ideally have integrity, resilience, and professional judgement.
  • Expertise in Student Services & Special Needs – Ideally skilled in supporting diverse learners and ensuring inclusive practices.
  • Behaviour Management Leadership – an ability to implement positive behaviour strategies and foster a safe, respectful school culture.

We strongly value team players who can work collaboratively with staff and stakeholders to drive school improvement with a student-centred leadership approach.

Strong knowledge of contemporary WA Curriculum, Early Childhood Education, Talk for Writing and Talk for Reading, Science of Reading approach, Teaching for Impact strategies and Teach Well Strategies will be highly regarded. Instructional Coaching and experience in mentoring staff and leading curriculum development would also be advantageous.
