Lead the strategic, operational and cultural direction of Murrumbidgee Local Health District's Aboriginal workforce initiatives.

About the Opportunity

The Senior Manager Aboriginal Workforce is a new role for Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD). This provides the successful applicant the opportunity to establish the strategic, operational and cultural direction of MLHD's Aboriginal workforce initiatives. This includes increasing employment, retention, building capacity and developing career pathway opportunities for existing and future Aboriginal employees across Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD).

As the Senior Manager Aboriginal Workforce, you will be responsible for:

• Leading high-level communication, negotiation, and cultural leadership in the planning and development of culturally informed initiatives, that will contribute to local workforce governance to ensure alignment with the NSW Health Aboriginal Workforce Plan.
• Leading the development, implementation and evaluation of evidenced based initiatives that support existing Aboriginal workforce.
• Supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of cultural development programs for all staff in partnership with the Senior Manager Education and Organisational Development, including cultural training and education.
• Work with the broader People & Culture and local management teams to increase Aboriginal employment participation.
• Establish and maintain strong, credible and collaborative internal and external relationships and partnerships across Health, associated agencies, and local Aboriginal communities.
• Provide support, advice and assistance to MLHD leaders and managers in relation to Aboriginal Employment and Workforce initiatives.

About You

• This is an identified position in accordance with Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.

• Experience in leading initiatives, projects and change management practices with Aboriginal people.
• Proven ability to analyse complex issues, develop new approaches, and implement effective strategies.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills, with a proven ability to build rapport and establish trust.
• A creative, innovative, and self-motivated approach, with the ability to overcome challenges and improve outcomes for the MLHD Aboriginal workforce and communities.
• Demonstrated high-level organisational and time management skills, with a proven ability to deliver progress reports and achieve milestones and targets.
