What You Will Be Doing In This Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated
Deputy Medical Workforce Manager
to provide essential support to the
Medical Workforce Manager
and
Director of Emergency Care
in the management and coordination of our medical workforce. This is a key role in ensuring the effective rostering, recruitment and retention doctors, as well as coordinating workforce accreditation, payroll, and operational needs in alignment with strategic objectives and quality standards.
This role will have a particular focus on managing the Emergency Department portfolio, encompassing recruitment, rostering, payroll, leave management, accreditation, and trainee rotations. You will be responsible for building, managing, and adapting rosters to ensure efficient staffing, closely monitoring vacant shifts, and escalating issues in a timely manner to maintain optimal staffing levels at all times. Additionally, you will ensure that all employed staff are paid accurately and on schedule.

Who We're Looking For
This is a dynamic and essential role for a motivated, proactive, and commercially-minded professional. You will excel in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities with calmness and professionalism, ensuring clarity even in high-pressure situations.
You will have at least two years of experience in a hospital or medical setting, ideally with a focus on medical workforce management.
Additionally, You Will Have
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially MS Word and Excel, with expertise in document transcription and spreadsheet management, including financial calculations.
- Experience in rostering within a healthcare environment, along with a solid understanding of award interpretation.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate rosters and payroll.
- A customer-service orientation and the ability to resolve issues effectively when working with colleagues, doctors, and other stakeholders.
- A quick adaptability to new processes and systems.
- Familiarity with recruitment processes (eg. PageUp) and payroll/rostering systems (eg. Kronos).
- Experience in accounting, education program management, or communication is highly desirable.
