The Registrar/Senior Registrar works under the direction and supervision of Specialist Medical Staff, and is responsible for:
- Adherence to professional protocols, policies, clinical pathways and standards.
- Demonstrating sound judgement and competence in accordance with skills and knowledge when undertaking tasks.
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the allocated site/facility. Provide after-hours emergency as determined by the relevant work unit.
Strongly desirable selection criteria:
- Applicants must be confirmed by the local Tasmanian Directors of Training or their respective faculty as being on the training pathway of either The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
- Applicants must have already secured a placement in a Medical Centre listed under the relevant Commonwealth Section 19(2) Direction, which authorises participation in the Single Employer Model (SEM) program.
- Only those meeting the above two criteria will be considered for the GP registrar position within the SEM Pilot Program.
- Special consideration will be given to applicants whose accepted general practice placement is located in a rural or remote areas classified as MMM 3 or above.

Details of appointment:
Multiple Fixed term appointment
available Statewide - North, North West and South locations
, full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 2 February 2026 until 31 January 2027. You will receive 10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, pro rata.

Salary:
Medical Practitioner Level $134,930 - $189,005 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging
- Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022
In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available

- General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)
- Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee's responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
