Responsibilities

Downer Rail & Transit Systems (RTS) is proud to be a leading provider of Rail and Transport asset management services across Australia and has been selected as the preferred organisation to deliver the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP), the largest investment in new rollingstock in Queensland's history. This legacy project for Queensland will ensure the design, build, and maintenance of 65 brand new trains, design and build of manufacturing facilities and depots, a huge boost to local manufacturing and supply chain and jobs for the community.

We are seeking talented and ambitious Electrical Engineering Graduates to join our vibrant project team. This is a fantastic opportunity for recent graduates with a passion for learning about the delivery of State significant infrastructure projects and the management of complex contractual arrangements. 

Rail and Transit Systems - Graduate Program 2026

Graduates on our 18 month – Fast Track Graduate Program, will have the opportunity to rotate and be part of a diverse organisation that is a leading provider of integrated services in Australia and New Zealand. We are committed to building strong relationships with our customers and our people.

Your development pathway will consist of:

  • On the job experience through engaging and immersive structured rotations with operational project teams
  • Training and development through core development training workshops and education programs
  • Annual Graduate Conference
  • One-on-one mentoring, networking and buddy support

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive and results orientated mindset
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently
  • Interest in delivery of State significant infrastructure projects

About you:

  • Australia Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident and or Full Australian work rights.
  • Completed a relevant university undergraduate degree in 2024 and or graduated by the end of 2025.
  • Some relevant industry or internship experience is a positive but not essential.
  • Able and committed to start in February 2026
