Selection CriteriaSC1. Demonstrated experience in gardening maintenance using motorised equipment as relevant to the position.

SC 3. Capacity to undertake routine tasks across a range of maintenance and gardening functions.
SC 4. Capacity to work cooperatively with a range of people including teachers, education support staff and parents.
SC 5. Demonstrated understanding of OH&S requirements specific to the position.
RoleAn education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Responsibilities- Garden Maintenance
- Maintain grassed areas and foliage throughout the school grounds
- Weed spraying, as required.
- Pruning of all shrubs, as required.
- External blowing/vacuuming of leaves and debris as per school schedule.
- Watering of planted areas, as required.
- Light Machinery maintenance.
- Facilitating the maintenance and service of gardening equipment.
- Maintaining petrol supplies for powered gardening tools.
- Ground infrastructure maintenance.
- Regular checking and clearing of small stormwater pits and drains.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, leaders, students and the general public.
Perform duties in an efficient, professional and courteous manner in accordance with the school Values, the Victorian Public Sector Code of Conduct and all local policies and codes of conduct.
Maintain regular, consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance and adherence to relevant health and safety procedures and staff policies and protocols.
Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.
Other duties as requested by the Principal/Business Manager.

Lara Primary school is situated in the north-east corner of the town of Lara. It is approximately 10 km from Geelong and 60 km west of Melbourne CBD.
