The Opportunity

We are seeking an Asset Information Lead to guide how asset data shapes smarter transport outcomes for South Australia. This is a dual-classification role (ASO7 or PO4), with appointment depending on the successful candidate's skills and experience.

In this position, you will lead a small team to manage the quality, governance, and strategic use of road corridor asset data and systems, ensuring information is accurate, consistent, and meaningful for decision-making.

You'll work closely with colleagues across the Department to improve data capture, refine information systems, and support the delivery of new tools and applications. By translating complex data into clear insights, you will help inform long-term planning and strengthen the Department's asset management capability

About you

You are a motivated and solutions-focused professional with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of asset management principles, data governance, and public sector processes. You bring sound judgement and a proactive mindset, enabling you to respond to complex challenges with practical, innovative solutions that support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

With experience leading teams or projects, you are confident in assessing systems and processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing change that aligns with organisational objectives. You are skilled at gathering business requirements, preparing data for effective use, and supporting initiatives that enhance asset information systems.

Your ability to communicate clearly and engage with stakeholders allows you to navigate challenges, build collaborative relationships, and negotiate positive outcomes. Whether working independently or as part of a team, you thrive in dynamic environments, apply initiative, and remain focused on delivering quality results.

Your leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to service delivery will enable you to make a meaningful contribution to the Department's asset management functions and provide real value to the South Australian community.

Educational Qualifications / Licenses

  • Tertiary qualification in computer science, information technology, software engineering or related discipline and/or significant experience in asset information management.

Special Conditions

  • A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
  • Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
