In support of this growth, we are looking for Technical Advisor - Environment to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future.

The role of Technical Advisor – Environment reports to the Manager – Safety, Health & Environment. The Technical Advisor – Environment provides high level technical expertise, project management, capability building and strategic support to LXMLs Environment, and Mine Rehabilitation and Closure functions. The role focuses on supporting project approval studies and applications, environmental management improvement projects and mine closure planning. The role is primarily project and improvement focused rather than operational.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide specialist environment, rehabilitation and mine closure technical advice to ensure compliance with Lao Law, LXML and international standards.
  • Provide technical assurance for environment and closure related operational activities, studies and regulatory submissions.
  • Coordinate and provide technical input for project approval related studies, permit applications and regulatory submissions.
  • Coordinate and provide technical input into environment improvement projects.
  • Apply project management discipline to scoping, budgeting and execution of environment improvement projects.
  • Through the delivery of the environmental improvement projects, build technical capacity in the national environment team.
  • Provide technical input into life-of-mine and closure planning.
  • Coordinate and provide technical input into rehabilitation and mine closure related studies and projects.
  • Support progressive rehabilitation planning, performance monitoring and costing.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Relevant qualification/training in environmental science, engineering or related discipline required.  At least 7 years of experience at a senior level Environmental role in mining
  • Previous expatriate experience highly desirable
  • Broad environmental management skillset across all aspects of metalliferous mining.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – in English.
  • Ability to coach and guide a national workforce

This role is located in the Lao PDR on either a Fly-in Fly-out 28 days on, 14 days off roster, or residential 9 days on 5 days off roster.
