About the organisation

Stroke Foundation is a national charity that partners with the community to prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery. We stand alongside stroke survivors and their families, healthcare professionals and researchers. We build community awareness and foster new thinking. We support survivors on their journey to live the best possible life after stroke.

Stroke is one of Australia's biggest killers and a leading cause of disability, yet it can be prevented, and it can be treated. It is estimated more than 27,000 Australians will experience stroke for the first time in their lives this year, which equates to one stroke experienced every 19 minutes. There are more than 445,000 survivors of stroke living in our community. Stroke attacks the brain, the human control centre, changing lives in an instant. It can impact anyone at any time.

About the program

Run4Stroke is a community fun run and fundraiser for Stroke Foundation, supporting stroke prevention, awareness, and recovery.

Set along the beautiful Mordialloc foreshore, the event welcomes participants of all ages and fitness levels to walk, jog or run distances from 4km to 20km. Every step taken helps raise vital funds to prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery.

Event Details

·      Date: Saturday 22 November 2025

·      Location: Peter Scullin Reserve, Mordialloc Foreshore, VIC

·      Volunteer Arrival Time: From 6.00am (may vary depending on final assigned roles)

·      Volunteer Finishing Time: 3:00pm (may vary depending on final assigned roles)

What the role involves

As a volunteer, you'll play a key role in ensuring participants and spectators enjoy a safe, smooth and memorable event.

You will be required to attend a pre-event briefing that will be held on-line.

Roles include:

Registration Desk Volunteer

  • Check in runners and ensure they have a ticket for entry
  • Hand out running bibs and pre-purchased singlets

​Information Tent

  • Sell Stroke Foundation merchandise and raffle tickets
  • Provide general assistance to participants and visitors

​Drink Station Volunteer

  • Set up tables and distribute water to participants
  • Assist in disposing of empty cups and maintaining cleanliness
  • Communicate any issues to your leader
  • Maintain a friendly and encouraging atmosphere for participants

Course Marshal

  • Direct and guide participants along the course
  • Monitor barricades, tape, and infrastructure placement
  • Report any incidents or hazards to your Sector Leader
  • Assist participants in need of medical or transport assistance

Start/Finish Line Assistant

  • Motivate and cheer on participants at the start of the walk
  • Assist in setting up the start line area
  • Position yourself near the finish line to welcome and cheer participants over the line
  • Ensure a smooth transition of participants through the finish area
