Senior Barista / Coffee Lead – Full Time

Bertoni Café – Balmain

Bertoni Café has been part of the Balmain community for over 20 years, known for our Italian heritage, quality coffee, and loyal local following. We're now looking for a senior, full-time barista to step into a key role as our long-standing head barista moves on after 8 years.

This is more than just a barista job – you'll be leading the coffee side of our business and working alongside a team who have been with us for years.

About the Role

  • Full-time position (5 days, weekdays + weekends on rotation)
  • Lead the coffee program: consistency, quality, training, and service flow
  • Manage stock, equipment upkeep, and ordering for the coffee section
  • Jump in across the café when needed – we're a team that works together
  • Be a positive influence in a close-knit, long-term crew

About You

  • 3+ years' barista experience in a high-volume café
  • Confident managing workflow, training, and quality standards
  • Strong knowledge of specialty coffee, equipment, and latte art
  • Team-focused, reliable, and adaptable – able to help out beyond the coffee machine
  • Leadership experience or a natural ability to guide others in service
