Paediatric Palliative Care Registrar (HM25-HM30)

About The Role
This is a Fixed Term Full Time position for 6 months at 86 hours per fortnight within the Victorian Paediatric Palliative Care Program.

Together with a skilled multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for ensuring the best possible palliative care is provided to children with a range of life-limiting conditions. This includes symptom management, liaison with community and hospital-based supports, assistance with decision-making and the psychosocial support of families. You will also be involved in providing education, developing clinical resources and contributing to research and quality initiatives.

Classification for this position will range from HM25- HM30(base salary $129,048.40 to $177,622.12 per annum, plus superannuation).

What You'll Achieve

  • Deliver sensitive and skilled provision of clinical care to children requiring palliative care, and their families
  • Establish excellent professional relationships with key stakeholders, including the multidisciplinary paediatric palliative care team, acute and community health care providers
  • Actively contribute to departmental meetings and training activities
  • Participate in education and research opportunities.

Your Skills And Experience

  • Full registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Successful completion of the FRACP Written and Clinical Examination (or equivalent)
  • Experience working in general or subspecialty paediatric medicine, or palliative medicine
  • Demonstrated commitment to work and contribute as part of a team.

About The Department
The Victorian Paediatric Palliative Care Program (VPPCP) is an alliance between The Royal Children's Hospital, Monash Health and Very Special Kids, managed by and under the auspices of the RCH. The VPPCP team is comprised of medical, nursing, and allied health staff. The Program uses a multi-disciplinary consultation-liaison model of care that provides consultation and capacity-building to health professionals across Victoria in the acute paediatric and community palliative care sectors, to provide the best possible palliative care to children and their families regardless of location or diagnosis.
