Southport Queensland, Australia Sight Specialists Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

Approx 30-35 HOURS/WEEK OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN - TRAINING PROVIDED - IMMEDIATE START

Sight Specialists ) is a specialist ophthalmology clinic located in Southport, Gold Coast. We pride ourselves in delivering patient care at the highest level in a manner that is personalised and patient-centred. We are are looking for an ophthalmic technician for immediate start.

The role is part time and is paid well above the Award rate. You will also have access to free undercover car parking.

You do not necessarily need experience as training will be provided on the job. The role would suit optical dispensers.

The role requires a team-player who enjoys working in a busy and professional team environment. Ideal candidates will have excellent communication skills, a warm nature, and a fundamental emphasis on customer service. Important attributes include the ability to multi-task, use initiative, and attention to detail.

Essential technical skills:

  • Experience in an eye care clinic, other healthcare setting, or a background in optics or science. Previous experience using ophthalmic diagnostic equipment will be viewed very favourably.

Duties include:

  • Operating a range of ophthalmic equipment including OCT, visual field analysis, iTrace wavefront aberrometer/topographer, Lenstar biometer and Eidon retinal camera (training will be provided as necessary)
  • Patient consultation including history-taking, measurement of visual acuity and intraocular pressures
  • Recording and typing patient consultations in Clinic to Cloud electronic practice management software
  • Collaborating and multi-tasking in a team of technicians and optometrists
  • Assisting the ophthalmologist in minor operations
  • Administering eye drops and setting up for minor procedures
  • Assisting with clinical reports and clinic prep
  • Maintaining medical stock supplies and sterilisation of instruments
  • Ensuring equipment and stock required for ophthalmologist consultation is available

Desired Experience and Attributes:

  • Experience as an ophthalmic technician, orthoptist or optical dispenser with pre-testing experience
  • Professional and concise communication
  • Ability to maintain calm when exposed to a high volume of patients
  • Exemplary communication, time management, problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Patient-focused approach with genuine empathy and interest in our patients needs
  • Positive and proactive attitude
  • Ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Willingness to learn
