Credit Controller

If you like working somewhere where your input is valued, your ideas are heard and the work you do makes a genuine impact - you'll feel right at home here.
We're looking for a
Credit Controller
to join
Hamilton Locke
, part of the
HPX Group,
where collaboration, accountability and innovation drive everything we do. You'll play a key role in helping us accelerate cash inflows, improve lock-up and build strong partnerships across the firm.
About Hamilton Locke
Hamilton Locke is one of Australia's fastest-growing law firms and proud to have recently been named
Best Law Firm at the 2025 Australian Law Awards
. We're part of the HPX Group, which was also recognised as one of
AFR Boss's Best Places to Work 2025
.
Our growth is driven by a simple belief: when people are empowered to think differently, supported to thrive, and surrounded by great colleagues, exceptional things happen. We're a team of high performers who value fresh perspectives, collaboration and genuine connection.
The Role
Reporting to the
Director of Business Performance
, you'll work closely with Partners and senior leaders to drive the collections process and enhance financial performance. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where your ability to influence and build trust will make a real difference.
You'll also have the opportunity to help shape our approach to Accounts Receivable, streamline processes and introduce better ways of working in a business that's open to ideas.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage collections and debtor relationships
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure prompt resolution of accounts
- Prepare monthly debtor statements and reporting
- Lead debtor meetings with Partners and Group Heads
- Support reconciliation work with the finance team
- Contribute to ad hoc projects (including the rollout of a new Practice Management System)
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years' experience in Credit Control or Accounts Receivable within professional services (or a similarly complex environment)
- A strong track record of recovering well-aged balances and managing challenging accounts
- Confidence and presence when working with Partners, clients, and senior stakeholders
- Excellent communication, analytical, and reporting skills
- Attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing environment
- Strong Excel skills and comfort with financial systems
What makes life at Hamilton Locke different?
We could tell you about the flexible working, fridge full of snacks and access to discounted gym memberships - and yes, we have all that. But what really makes us different are the things that show who we are:
Every year, our people have the chance to join the
HPX Group Adventure Club
- an all-expenses-subsidised trip that brings together colleagues from across Australia and New Zealand for a few days of adventure and connection. Past trips have taken us hiking in Hobart, jet boating in Queenstown and even bungee jumping (for the brave). It's one of the ways we bring our values of collaboration, courage and fun to life.
We also run our
da Vinci Development Program
, which gives everyone the opportunity to explore something new - from pottery to Pilates (or even climbing Mount Everest) with a subsidy to cover the cost and an extra week of annual leave to make time for it.
Because we know when our people are energised, curious and connected, that's when we do our best work.
How To Apply
We prefer to work directly with candidates. If you're interested in this role, please click the 'Apply' button or contact the Talent Team at with any questions.
Agency Submissions
HPX Group does not accept agency submissions unless the agency is specifically contacted by a member of the Recruitment Team. Please do not forward candidate profiles or resumes to partners, hiring managers or other employees – this will not constitute an introduction to the firm and HPX Group will not be liable for a fee.
