APS 5 - Senior Conservation Officers

The Library is seeking to fill two Senior Conservation Officer APS5 roles in the Collection Care Section of the Collection Branch.

These are non-ongoing roles until March 2026 and July 2026.

As a Senior Conservation Officer you will advise, lead and undertake complex conservation work to support a range of programs including Digitisation, Acquisitions, Loans, Exhibitions and Preventive Conservation.

We are looking for candidates with problem-solving skills, the ability to lead and manage a small team, who work well with others, are able to liaise and negotiate, have high technical skills with attention to detail and a commitment to administrative processes.

These roles may require occasional out of hours attendance to respond to emergency collection incidents as well as the possibility of work-related travel.

To succeed in this role you should have:

  • a qualification in the conservation of cultural heritage; and/or
  • extensive experience in hands-on treatment of cultural material. This can be library and archival collections or collections that include objects, textiles and paintings.
