About the role

Bentleys Barristers & Solicitors are seeking a passionate and dedicated Junior Family Law Solicitor to join our growing team in our Melbourne office. This is a full-time position, offering the opportunity to develop your skills and experience in the area of family law within a supportive and collaborative environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Assisting with the preparation and management of family law matters, including divorce proceedings, property settlements, and child custody arrangements
  • Conducting client interviews and gathering relevant information to build strong case files
  • Conducting legal research and preparing draft documents such as affidavits, submissions, and correspondence
  • Attending court hearings and client meetings to provide support and representation
  • Collaborating with senior solicitors and barristers to deliver high-quality legal services
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case notes and records

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission as a solicitor in Victoria
  • 2-3 years of experience in family law, or a strong interest and commitment to developing a career in this area
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathise and build rapport with clients
  • Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently as required
