About the Role:

The Caseworker is responsible for providing support and supervision to children in BACS OOHC program to reach their potential, achieve quality outcomes with their social, emotional, health and educational needs whilst ensuring the children are safe. The Caseworker will work with the children, their families, their carers, and extended networks to assist and create change that is required to keep children and young people safe.

The key objectives of the role include:

  • Ensuring case practice is delivered to a high professional standard and in a manner that promotes the safety, welfare and wellbeing, family and community connections of children placed in BACS' care
  • Ensuring services are delivered in line with established BACS policies and procedures, Office of Children's Guardian (OCG) standards and in compliance with relevant legislation
  • Working in a manner that ensures sound community networks and fosters and maintains positive interagency relationships
  • Placement matching and support and ensure case plan goals are in accordance with permanency guidelines.
  • Monitor placements in the carers' home including home visits and all related support.
  • Ensure compliance will all application legislation and regulation including the Carer Protection Act and OCG Standards.
  • Advocate for each child's rights as per the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child
  • Maintain appropriate records and compliance with the service management system and BACS Records Management Policy and Procedures.
  • Ability to be available for on-call duties to provide after-hours support to carers, children and young persons in care and support agencies.

Essential Criteria:

  • Certificate IV Community Services or related field.
  • Experience working in an out of home care and child protection environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of OOHC standards, legislation and OCG requirements
  • Strong casework skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage & work effectively with Aboriginal people and communities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective time management and personal organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, and as a team member.
  • High level of computer literacy; sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Current NSW driver's licence.
  • Ability to hold all relevant security clearances including the National Police Check and Working with Children clearances in accordance with BACS policies and procedures.
