The Opportunity:

McArthur is seeking an Infringement Review Officer, to support our Local Government client to assess, and make evidence-based decisions on infringement notices that have been distributed in the community. This opportunity blends your knowledge of local laws and legislation, strong customer service, and excellent communicative skills to deliver a positive outcome to both Council and the community.

This is a casual opportunity that offers full-time hours across a 6-month term, and located in an accessible location in the inner-east suburbs of Melbourne

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake timely and accurate assessment of applications for a review of a decision to issue an infringement notice
  • Assess Infringement Reviews (Appeals) and investigate the validity of claims in line with the Infringements Act 2006
  • produce legally sound decisions to proceed with enforcement or withdraw.
  • Produce high-quality and tailored, written responses to applicants
  • Maintain the operation of the infringement management system
  • Promptly respond to and resolve customer enquiries that seeks to support customer claims
  • Maintain, collate and analyse infringement data and support preparation of reports as required by Council and other statutory bodies.

Selection Criteria:

  • An understanding of relevant Acts, Regulations and Local Laws relating to the functions and responsibilities of the Civic Services Department.
  • Previous experience in an infringement review position, or similar with evidence-based decision making.
  • Previous experience working in Local Council
  • A high level of emotional intelligence, and empathy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

To be considered for this role, you must hold or have the ability to obtain a Working With Children's Check, and a clear Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
