About the role:CSR is undertaking several significant capex projects, including upgraded and expanded manufacturing facilities across Australia. There is now an opportunity for an experienced construction lawyer to join the in-house legal team based in North Ryde, Sydney (hybrid) on an initial 12-month contract.
Reporting to Head of Legal, you will primarily support the Major Capital Project Managers across a range of capex construction matters as the legal subject matter expert. This includes front end legal support for the whole project, from tendering to delivery. There is also an opportunity for exposure across a range of other areas of practice as part of a high-performing in-house legal team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, negotiate and settle a wide range of standard form and bespoke construction contracts required for completion of capex projects - including D&C and construct only, equipment procurement and related service/ consultancy agreements.
- Provide strategic legal input into tender processes and risk allocation
- Liaise with internal stakeholders including Major Capital Project Managers, Procurement and Property groups
- Support Major Capital Project Managers with contract administration, including contractual variations, enforcement and resolution of minor disputes.
- Support the inhouse legal team with commercial BAU on ad-hoc basis
What You'll Bring:
- 8 - 10 years + PQE, with strong background in construction or projects work (front end) gained at reputable law firm and/or in-house.
- Significant experience with Australian Standard D&C/ equipment purchase and installation agreements
- Demonstrated experience in completing significant projects
- Commercial mindset and pragmatic approach to risk
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work proactively and independently
- Admission to practice law in NSW
