As a Wind Farm Technician, you support the overall operations and maintenance of one or more wind farms and all related facilities to assure safety and maximize availability in accordance with the Operations mission.  This role is responsible for safe execution of scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting and repair activities, training, and safety exercises. This job also maintains accountability and readiness of plant tools, equipment, and vehicles; provides technical guidance to the O&M team; tracks and maintains records of service activities, both scheduled and unscheduled, through the digital maintenance management system; and helps maintain the work ethic and culture of the plant O&M team.

Role Responsibilities:

Assure that all operation and maintenance activities are performed in a safe manner consistent with policies and procedures established for the wind farm siteAssist in conducting acceptance and performance tests on systems and equipment following planned maintenance or outagesPerform safety and other wind farm-related tasks when assigned and fill in as backup to personnel at other RWE sites when necessaryAssist with turbine maintenance, including services, major component work and replacement, and troubleshootingAssist with Balance of Plant procedures as needed, including substation and collection system maintenanceAdherence to the company's values and behaviors

Job Requirements and Experiences:

Minimum of 4 years of work experience in operations and/or maintenance in power generation, transmission, and/or distribution Alternatively, 2 2-year or 4-year college degree from an accredited school (other than correspondence or online) in a technical science like engineering, physics, power, or closely similar; current journeyman or master electrician licenseHigh School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in sciences or related field from an accredited school preferredUnrestricted driver's license in good standingWilling to relocate to within 1 1-hour drive of the siteMust be able to maintain a personal weight limitation of 270 lbs.Previous experience on the GE 2. X platform preferred

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to sit, walk or stand for long duration of time     Must be able to climb wind towers daily.  During this task, employee must be able to open/close hatch doors and identify potential safety hazards Must have the ability to identify and distinguish colorsMust be able to transfer 50 pounds from a thirty-five-inch platform to the floor    Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for up to 15 feetMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds from ground to brow height Must be able to lift and transfer up to 50 pounds to a 35-inch platformMust be able to lift and carry 25 pounds with one hand up to 15 feet Must be able to crouch, kneel, or ½ kneel for up to 5 minutes at a time to perform maintenance tasks in low areasMust be able to perform fine motor tasks, such as screwing or unscrewing nuts and bolts, while reaching around and over objectsMust be able to balance to:work in closed and small swaying areas on top of and within wind towerswalk across small surface areas to access areas within wind turbinesMust be able to military, belly, or back crawl up to 15 feet to access the nose cone area of wind turbinesMust be able to step or climb up onto the platform at a height of 35 inches, with or without support

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Wind Farm site location, including work in and around energized wind turbine generators and balance of plant equipment (substation, pad mount transformers, etc.). The work will occur within an office, warehouse, in turbines and outdoors
