Welding Co-Ordinator /QA

The role of Welding Co-Ordinator / QA is responsible for completing weld inspections on all steel welds as well as maintaining Inspection and Test Plans (ITP's) and promptly addressing any non-conformances. Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of welding processes, non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques, and quality assurance principles.

This is a permanent and full-time position.

Key responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to:

  • Conduct daily visual inspections on welds to ensure compliance with WPS standards.
  • Verify dimensions based on provided drawings and collaborate with client QC for accuracy.
  • Participate in joint inspections with the client at all ITP hold points.
  • Monitor welding parameters and oversee the use of proper welding techniques.
  • Perform daily inspections on all fit-ups and welds by workshop personnel.
  • Prepare and review MDR with client.
  • Address quality-related concerns promptly.
  • Adhere to Quality Procedures in all duties.
  • Supervise welding processes to achieve correct fit-up and ensure adherence to welding parameters.
  • Plan and implement tasks according to weekly plans to meet project objectives.
  • Prepare NDT Requests and Liaise with NDT provider and Technicians
  • Monitor compliance progress continuously.
  • Ensure all Welders are Current and Re qualify welders as required
  • Prepare pre-qualification documents for projects (ITP, WPS, WPQR and Welder Qualifications)
  • Supervise any necessary weld repairs.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and capabilities for this role:

  • A minimum of two years of experience as a welding QC inspector in fabrication settings.
  • Possession of at least AS 1796 certification 10 or CSWIP 3.1.
  • Proficiency in welding inspection and quality control practices.
  • Demonstrated practical welding abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficient in interpersonal interactions for effective client engagement.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and capability to perform under pressure.
  • Prior exposure to fabrication workshops.
  • Familiarity with Australian standards concerning structural steel, piping, and welding.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, including projections and welding symbols.
  • Background in Quality Assurance, checking procedures and MDR preparation.
  • Good computer skills with the ability to use maintenance management systems, word processing, presentation and spread sheet applications
