Tax Analyst

About the role

Peabody Energy is seeking a Tax Analyst to join our Finance team, based in our Brisbane Corporate Office. Reporting to the Senior Manager Tax Compliance this role will support the tax function across a range of Australian tax compliance, reporting, administration and planning activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the accurate preparation and timely lodgement of returns (direct and indirect taxes) and other statutory lodgements as required
  • Prepare tax workings and disclosure notes for Australian statutory financial statements
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly tax provision calculations
  • Support tax review of business processes, including annual budgets, forecasts, leasing arrangements, and fixed asset management
  • Provide support on ad hoc tax projects and initiatives as required

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, Finance or Tax
  • 1-2 years' experience in corporate tax (experience within the mining industry or a large/global corporate environment will be highly regarded)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the business
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word (SAP experience advantageous)
