Denistone East Before & After School Care Association (DEBASCA) is a community based, not for profit service providing high quality care for school age children. Located in the Ryde area, we provide before and after school care as well as vacation care.
We are looking for enthusiastic, skilled and highly responsible educators to join our fantastic team If you have worked with school aged children - coached sports teams, led youth groups, worked as a teacher's aide/SLSO, or you are studying to become a Primary school or PE teacher/OT/social work/counselling – this may be the opportunity you are looking for Looking to fill various roles from casual/part-time to permanent part time.

Essential Criteria:
- Working with Children Check Clearance Number (WWCC)
- Knowledge of Child Protection mandatory reporting requirements and Child Safe Standards and/or willingness to obtain
- Experience working with children aged 5-12 years, especially those who have worked with children with additional needs
- Interests and skills in craft, sports, group games, cooking or other activities enjoyed by children
- Ability to develop respectful relationships with children and manage groups of diverse children
- Effective communication skills and professional manner
- Prompt and reliable, a team player, have leadership skills and lots of initiative
Desirable Criteria:
- Diploma in Out of School Hours Care or Diploma in Children's Services, Bachelor in Education or currently studying in any of the following fields: social work/counselling/occupational therapy/early childcare
- Experience and skills in developing, implementing and evaluating effective programs for school aged children, e.g.: experience working in OOSH, experience working in schools, sports coaching, youth group leadership/mentoring
- Experience working with children with additional needs, either in a support unit setting or as a private aide
- Current First Aid certificate, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certificate, Child Protection certificate or willingness to obtain
- Knowledge of the National Quality Framework and My Time Our Place
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Commitment to the 'paramountcy principle', where best interests of the child and their protection from harm is paramount and children's rights are understood and respected. All educators and staff are to comply with all Child Protection mandatory reporting requirements and adherence to Child Safe polices and procedures.
- Helping to ensure a high-quality standard of care is provided and that a happy, safe and professional environment is maintained.
- Care for and interact with children from Kindergarten to Year 6 in a range of activities. Setting up and packing away activities, light cleaning duties.
- Provide appropriate instruction, care and resources for students with identified needs across K-6. This will involve collaboration with other members of the team and senior staff at the service.
- Be committed to inclusive practices to ensure that all children can participate, learn and develop in an environment that supports their individual strengths and interests
- Be aware of all health and safety procedures and centre policy and procedures and follow through with them.
- Writing up children observations and evaluations with reference to the outcomes for 'My Time Our Place' School Age Framework.
Availability to work:
- We require a MINIMUM availability of 3-4 shifts per week. However, we have roles available with more hours. We are flexible for the right candidate. Please advise as to whether you are applying for a casual/part-time role.
- During school term time: morning shifts range from 7-9.30am and afternoon shifts range from 2-6pm, Monday to Friday. Various hours during school holidays. Must be available to work during school holidays
