If so, we would love to hear from you regarding our newly created Technical Service & Training Lead
Who are we?
Welding Industries Australia (WIA) is part of the welding products division of Illinois Tool Works (ITW), a global manufacturing company, which has been operating in Australia and New Zealand for over 60 years.
The foundation of our success is combining the best global welding brands with local market support to deliver innovative solutions to our customers.
What position do we have available?
As our new Technical Service & Training Lead, you'll be the go-to expert for our customers and internal teams – delivering training, technical support, and service solutions for our range of welding products.
From troubleshooting equipment to running engaging training sessions, you'll play a key role in ensuring our customers get the best results from our products.
No two days are the same - this is a unique role that combines developing and delivering training programs with hands on product troubleshooting and technical expertise.
In this role, your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing and delivering all technical product and troubleshooting training programs to our Service Agent Network, Distribution Channel Network and internal WIA staff.
- Overseeing our Authorised Service Agent Network, including regular performance assessment, managing contracts and new account setup.
- Providing critical issue resolution as the highest technical escalation point for complex and high-risk issues.
- Overseeing the creation and maintenance of high-quality technical documentation, including service bulletins and service memos.
- Driving continuous improvement within the technical service function.
- Collating field performance data to share with the Product Development team.
- Providing reciprocal support to the service and warranty functions during periods of holidays, leave, or other absences.
Is this the perfect role for you?
If you have the following skills and experience then this may just be the perfect position for you:
- Qualifications in electrical engineering or a related trade qualification.
- Formal training or certification in adult learning, instructional design, or technical training delivery is highly desirable.
- Advanced electrical engineering and fault diagnosis capabilities.
- Expert-level, in depth understanding of welding equipment, technology, and welding processes (WIA/Miller knowledge highly desirable).
- Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and deliver effective technical training programs to adult learners.
- Strong communication and presentation skills – you can make technical information clear and engaging.
- A proactive, hands-on approach and genuine passion for helping others succeed.
- A current driver's licence and willingness to travel for training and support visits.
- A current electrical licence is highly advantageous.
Why join us?
- Be part of a collaborative, people focused team that values learning and initiative.
- Work with innovative products and a supportive, down-to-earth team.
- Opportunities to grow your technical and training skills.
