About your new role
Under the guidance of the Certifying Specialist Engineer, we are seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team.
Key Role Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of project scope for electrical and lighting projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and industry standards.
- Provide technical support to the Certifying Specialist Engineer, assisting with both current and upcoming design commitments, particularly in electrical engineering and lighting assessments.
- Design of lighting and electrical design systems through the use of relevant design software (Agi32, Perfectlite, PowerCAD etc).
- Hands-on experience in designing both low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) electrical systems, ensuring safe and efficient operation across a variety of projects throughout the design and installation.
- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office for drafting, markups, and documentation.
- Perform detailed assessments of public lighting systems, offering expert technical advice to internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and client needs.
- Review electrical design drawings prepared by external consultants, ensuring adherence to design standards, regulations, and project requirements.
- Evaluate the electrical infrastructure associated with council-owned assets, providing expert guidance to both internal teams and external contractors on necessary improvements or upgrades.
- Develop clear and comprehensive technical specifications for public lighting and electrical services, ensuring all requirements are met and properly documented.
- Conduct detailed assessments of existing electrical infrastructure, including electrical switchboards, to determine suitability for ongoing projects, and recommend upgrades where necessary.
- Provide technical advice and design services for underground conduit reticulation, sketch plans, and specifications, ensuring compliance with Council's Infrastructure Design Policy and relevant Standard Drawings.
- Contribute to the preparation and implementation of city-wide lighting programs, including performing necessary investigations, creating designs, and collaborating with stakeholders to meet operational and community requirements.

Your leadership and technical expertise will be integral in shaping and delivering high-impact projects, ensuring compliance, innovation, and excellence across all phases of electrical infrastructure development.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
- You will hold a Bachelor Degree of Engineering (extensive experience in electrical design – minimum of 5 years)
- Registered Professional Engineer QLD (RPEQ) – Electrical ( Desirable )
- WHS General Construction White Card (Desirable)
- Current C Class Drivers Licence
