About the Role

Location: IRT Woodlands Aged Care Centre and Retirement Village

Make a positive difference to our residents' lives by helping support their health and wellbeing as a Volunteer. IRT volunteer program allows for more flexibility and informal interactions, personalised activities and strengthens our ability to response to individual's preferences.

We're looking for people that are warm, caring, compassionate and are team players who would like to volunteer at IRT Woodlands - Meridan Plains as Leisure and Lifestyle volunteers.

Lifestyle roles/activities are listed in full detail below;

Activity Assistant: Assisting in planning, organising, and facilitating a range of activities and programs that support the well-being, engagement, and social interaction of residents in IRT Aged Care. You will contribute to creating an enjoyable and fulfilling environment for residents through engaging activities tailored to their needs.

Emotional Support Visitor: Provide compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgmental support to residents. This role focuses on enhancing the emotional well-being of residents through one-on-one visits, companionship, and active listening. Volunteers in this position play a crucial role in alleviating feelings of isolation, promoting mental health, and helping residents feel heard and valued.

Dining Room Assistant: Helping staff ensure residents enjoy a comfortable, pleasant, and well-organised dining experience. This position involves assisting with meal service, ensuring the dining area is set up and maintained, and providing support to residents during meal times to meet their individual needs.

Baking Assistant: The Baking Assistant is responsible for assisting in the preparation and baking of a variety of baked goods for the residents. This role involves ensuring food is prepared and presented in a safe, nutritious, and appealing way. The Baking Assistant will work with the guidance of the Kitchen Manager to assist in baking and food preparation.

We are looking for volunteers who can commit to regular volunteering for more than 6 months. The time we need from volunteers is defined by what they are willing to provide. There are opportunities from Monday-Friday, morning and afternoon for 2 hour and 4 hours slots. We do not have a minimum or maximum number of hours per week. We appreciate any time given and will accommodate to you, our volunteers.

To Be Successful You Will Have

We're looking for volunteers who are warm and caring, compassionate and are a team player, have good communication and interpersonal skills. Volunteers will need to undergo a National Criminal History Check (paid for by IRT), complete volunteer training sessions and inductions.
