Southern Haulage (SH) is a family-owned Transport business operating in the Great Southern Region for 62 years. We pride ourselves on providing high quality service to our customers, along with being a highly desirable place for employment.

We are looking for a motivated manager, to oversee the management & maintenance of our fleet of transport equipment, and machinery based in Mount Barker. The successful candidate will need to be well organised and have a mechanical background along with great people skills. SH undertakes much of the routine maintenance in house and engages specialists when required.

Position Description

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Liaison with Operations Manager on service, repairs and maintenance to the fleet
  • Managing a small, but cohesive team in a workshop environment.
  • Work closely with Parts Co Ordinator
  • Review reports and prioritise workshop activities and scheduled maintenance of vehicles
  • Ensure the workshop is maintained in a clean and safe state
  • Ensure compliance to forklifts, racking, lifting equipment, etc.
  • Ensure that all maintenance data is recorded for audit purposes
  • Communicating with workshop employees with daily prestart and weekly toolbox meetings
  • Other duties as required

Skills and Experience

  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proven ability to manage workshop team
  • Strong mechanical, workshop and safety knowledge
  • High work ethic and reliable

Remuneration will be negotiated depending on experience, with an attractive package available to the suitable candidate.

While the job requires a certain amount of organisation, mechanical knowledge and personal skills – more importantly, SH requires the successful candidate to have a proactive attitude, and be upholding to the high standard of positive culture our workplace embodies.

This role will be based from our Mount Barker Depot and our workshop hours Monday to Friday from 7.30am till 5.00pm.
