Position overview
The Audit and Policy Governance Lead is responsible for managing the Bureau's Internal Audit function, including acting as a facilitator between the Internal Audit provider and the Bureau, monitoring agreed audit actions, and reporting audit outcomes to management and oversight committees.
The Audit and Policy Governance Lead is also responsible for the management of the Bureau of Meteorology Audit Committee (BMAC) and Financial Statements Sub-Committee (FSSC), including supporting the relationship with the Committee members, performing secretariat functions, managing action items and developing the Committee's strategic work plan.
The Audit and Policy Governance Lead also manages the Bureau's Policy Governance function, managing the framework for the development, approval, implementation, maintenance and review of the Bureau's policies, and associated procedures, processes and guidelines.
The Audit and Policy Governance Lead works to the Manager, Risk, Resilience, Integrity & Audit in the Organisational Resilience program.
Role responsibilities
The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Managing the Bureau's Internal Audit Program in conjunction with the Internal Audit provider, supporting the development of the Annual Internal Audit Plan and facilitating the delivery of audits in accordance with the plan. 
- Act as a facilitator between the Internal Audit provider and the Bureau, including facilitating engagement with senior executives, and providing strategic and contextual advice to the Internal Auditors. 
- Preparing high-quality committee papers to report on audit outcomes and monitor agreed audit management actions. 
- Perform the secretariat function for the Bureau of Meteorology Audit Committee (BMAC), preparing agendas, coordinating papers and presentations, preparing high-quality minutes and managing administration for the meetings. Manage the recruitment, onboarding and administration of Committee membership. 
- Managing the Bureau's Policy Governance function, including assisting with the design and implementation of the Policy Governance framework, managing the maintenance, review and approval of the Bureau's policies and procedures. 
- Providing best-practice advice on the development of high-quality policies and procedures. 
- Complying with all Bureau work, health and safety policies and procedures, and taking reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of employees, contractors and visitors who may be affected by your conduct.
